Amorce-Tape Cap Lighter Petrol Pocket Wick Lighter – Germany 1890s.
A unique amorce-tape cap lighter with rotating drum for the cap tape and a scriber. Also called Theatre Lamp, used to find one’s way in a dark theatre. No Markings. Patented in 1892 by Nathan Matthewson.
Push button on the side to open cap, the gunpowder then ignite the wick with a bang. It really works great, but we have not tried it with fuel. A fine and rare example of a Amorce-Tape Cap Lighter, dating back I believe to the early 19th century – A real vintage piece. No Signs or Marks. See photographs for details of any areas of wear etc. Our photos are a part of the description … Please study them carefully.
